Title: Sr. Application Engineer

Key Accountabilities:
- Provide technical sales support directly and indirectly to customers and distribution partners
- Conduct Mining system development and project management support from concept through delivery with a focus on scheduling, budgeting, detailed design, prototyping, SAP scope definitions, product model creation, validation testing, and field testing
- Participate in customer technical meetings, provide technical documentation, analyze customer/OEM requirements, developing technical solutions and drafting support to develop technical order specifications
- Perform technical order management for custom systems and project systems business orders, release new options and review orders for accuracy
- Release customer specific engine calibrations, within Application Engineering parameter limits, and provide field support for electronic issues
- Support engine and systems acceptance testing for first of class commissioning or by special order
- Develop and provide technical product training to Sales, Rolls-Royce Solutions Distributors and strategic customers
- Provide troubleshooting and commissioning support for customer projects and work with Service on field solutions
- Provide strategic application engineering support by releasing product options and cross releases where possible
- Provide field testing support to ensure products remain in compliance with emissions regulations
- Provide expert product knowledge support to service and distribution via troubleshooting and change management
- Support Hazards and Risk analyses and safety plans as applications expert
- Support engines, systems, and automation portfolio management as applications expert
- Provide customer requirements for new product developments in Mining applications
- Develop and maintain Mining documentation, including sales presentations, product flyers, technical data sheets, 3D and 2D drawings, installation and commissioning manuals, and operating manuals
- Support the development of Mining service documentation including maintenance schedules and parts catalogs
- Perform sustaining engineering activities in support of Mining applications
- Track resolution of assigned engine Series problems and enhancements
- Provide management with regular reports on project work plans and status for information and resource management purposes
- Maintain a neat workplace and organized information files pertaining to project work assignments
- Maintain a daily record of work hours by job number for budgeting & auditing purposes
- Promote a compliance culture and live the letter and the spirit of the Rolls-Royce Code of Conduct
- Perform special projects as required
Basic Requirements:
- Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S without sponsorship. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa at this time
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical / electrical engineering, and 5 years of experience in mechanical / electrical engineering; or 9 years of experience in mechanical / electrical engineering.
- Five (5) years of experience with installation, start-up, and testing of diesel engines
- Ability to travel - domestic and international (50%)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong familiarity with Mining equipment and operations
- Excellent knowledge of principles and operation of internal combustion engines
- Excellent knowledge of drafting nomenclature and conventions
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent organizational, planning and follow-up skills
- Strong project management experience
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Strong presentation skills
- Proficient with PC and MS Office Suite
- Familiarity with mtu products
- Familiarity with CAN bus (J1939) protocol and CAN bus tools
- Familiarity with 3D modeling software
