As a Material Review Board (MRB) Design Engineer you will be a part of the Production Improvement Engineering Team, responsible for providing engineering input on non-conforming products. You will provide engineering support for production parts made by the internal plants and from vendors over a variety of Supply Chain Units (SCUs), resulting in a tangible impact on engine and spares delivery.
You will have flexibility to work on structures & transmissions, turbines, or compressors, depending upon the needs of the business and relevant experience. The team’s primary location is co-located with operations at the Excellence Building. There you will have the opportunity to see hardware and interface with the manufacturing and assembly teams.
What you will be doing:
- Engineer assessing complex MRB and production issues that require collaboration with a variety of other business units and disciplines such as Performance, Thermals, Air Systems, Materials, Dynamics, Component Stress, Manufacturing, Production, and Inspection as required
- Key delegate that is able to represent RRC engineering during urgent manufacturing issues
- Builds engineering justification for disposition of non-conformances to be captured in Technical Analysis Reports (TARs)
- Responsible for assessment and execution of Tooling Layout (TLO) Requests
- Identifies and leads improvement projects to help factories flow
- Assesses non-conforming hardware against engineering acceptance criteria

Basic Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with 2+ years of experience in Aerospace, Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering OR
- A Masters degree in Aerospace, Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering OR
- JD/PhD
- In order to be considered for this opportunity, you must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident
Preferred:
- Experience with the Rolls-Royce Indianapolis MRB Web App and general MRB processes
- Possesses strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a high pressure and fast paced environment
- Technical writing and communication experience
- Experience reviewing and approving technical documents
- Design experience from multiple component areas (i.e. compressor and turbine statics, rotatives, structures, etc.)
